Understand aspect ratios so your wallpaper fits your screen without cropping or stretching.
An aspect ratio is the proportion between width and height. Picking a wallpaper with the right ratio is the easiest way to avoid black bars, stretched images and cut-off subjects.
Most monitors, laptops and TVs are 16:9, including Full HD (1920×1080), 1440p and 4K (3840×2160). A 16:9 wallpaper fills these screens exactly.
Ultrawide monitors are wider, for example 3440×1440. A 16:9 image will either be cropped at the top and bottom or leave bars at the sides. Use the "Fill" setting and choose wallpapers where the subject sits in the center.
Phones are held upright, so wallpapers are 9:16 (for example 1080×1920). A wide desktop image cropped to this ratio keeps only the middle portion, which is why we offer a dedicated 9:16 download for every picture.
Pick the ratio of your screen, download the matching version, and use "Fill" in your system settings. If the picture looks too zoomed in, try "Fit" instead.
