Wallpaper Fit Modes: Fill, Fit, Stretch, Tile and Center

What each display mode does and which one keeps your 4K wallpaper looking sharp.

When the wallpaper and the screen have different sizes, your system uses a fit mode to decide how to show it. Choosing the wrong one is the main reason a good wallpaper looks blurry or distorted.

Fill

Fill scales the image until it covers the whole screen and crops what does not fit. It keeps the proportions, so nothing looks stretched. This is the best choice for most wallpapers.

Fit

Fit shows the entire image without cropping, which can leave bars on the sides or top. Use it when the whole picture matters, such as artwork with text.

Stretch

Stretch forces the image to the screen size and ignores proportions. Circles become ovals, so avoid it unless the wallpaper already matches your screen ratio.

Tile and Center

Tile repeats a small image, and Center shows it at its original size in the middle. Both are for patterns or very small pictures, not for 4K artwork.

For sharp results, download the 4K version that matches your screen ratio and select Fill. On a 4K monitor the image is shown 1:1 without any scaling at all.
